Chris Blodgett, PhD

Background: Dr. Blodgett's special projects include developing a university–community partnership to revitalize high-risk neighborhoods and develop mental health services targeted toward high-risk children. Additionally, he is working toward developing a model service program for chronically mentally ill indigent adults and conducting an evaluation of efforts to prevent intimate partner violence.

Dr. Blodgett oversees the Starting Early, Starting Smart research contract, sponsored by Casey Family Partners–Spokane and designed to evaluate outcomes used to measure child welfare. He is also evaluating the Spokane County Domestic Violence Consortium for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Expertise: Mental health, mental illness, intimate partner violence, and downtown revitalization.

 

Liz Blodgett, BA

Liz serves as the primary support for the Washington Rural Health Association as part of their contract with AHEC. Her other programs include developing the AHEC's complex trauma literacy, managing the online registration system for conferences, and developing the Health Care Resource Guide with the Spokane Medical Clinics Committee.

Background: Lisa has worked with the Child and Family Research Unit since 2000, initially as a technical worker and web developer. Prior to joining the CAFRU research staff, she served as the Executive Director of the Rainbow Regional Community Center and as proprietor of a web design firm. A Spokane area native, Lisa received her undergraduate degree in RTV from the University of Houston in 1995 and her Masters of Technology Management (MTM) at WSU Spokane in 2003.

Expertise: Presently Lisa is co-coordinator of the Spokane Head Start–University Child Outcomes Partnership. Her areas of interest include Management Information Systems (MIS) development and implementation, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and the use of these technologies for enhancing research and program/organizational improvement. Other interests include web design and community and neighborhood development.

 

Roy Harrington

Background: Roy worked in the juvenile justice system for sixteen years and then served in the Washington State child welfare system, in administrative and policy making positions, for another sixteen years. In addition to his current study at WSU of family violence and children exposed to violence, he is also a member of the faculty at Eastern Washington University, where he teaches social policy. 

Expertise: Roy's interest in community development and service integration covers a range of funding streams and federal and state programs, including those that affect local capacity in the areas of children’s mental health, child abuse and neglect, children's exposure to violence, family violence, and substance abuse. His current work focuses on community development and empowerment through the application of information generated by locally-based research and evaluation activity.

Myah earned an undergraduate degree from University of California Santa Cruz and a graduate research degree from WSU Spokane. She has worked in socially and culturally diverse settings to assess and enhance the qualities of those communities. Her interests include community development through education, human service, and family partnerships; organizational change; and the use of research and evaluation for improved quality early learning systems. 

Other areas of interest include geographic analysis, project management, and resource development. Myah has been with the Child and Family Research Unit since 1999. Currently she is Project Coordinator for the Spokane Head Start–University Child Outcomes Partnership

 

Bettie Rundlett, BA

Background: Has worked with AHEC programs for over 17 years, specializing in learning resource development, continuing education program management, and health workforce recruitment and retention.

Expertise: Working with youth and school personnel in the area of career recruitment, consulting for clinical rotation management, facilitating continuing education delivery for health professionals.

Background: Natalie joined the Child and Family Research Unit in 2005. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology form Eastern Washington University. Natalie is a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and prior to joining the CAFRU staff she worked both as a child and family therapist and as Clinical Director for a local non-profit child welfare and advocacy agency.

Expertise: Currently Natalie serves as project director for evaluation of the Washington State Readiness to Learn Program. Other areas of interest include children’s mental health, family violence, child development, and education.

 

Bonnie Wagner, MEd

Background: Degree in Education; worked with local school district as Washington Regional Action Project Coordinator providing curricula development, provider training & technical assistance, resource development; worked with WSU Spokane City Lab developing curricula, protocols, scheduling, and teacher training; currently serves as the K-16 program coordinator in program and curriculum development for current and future health science students.

Expertise: Working with youth and school personnel, curriculum and program development, teacher training, technical assistance.

Jeff has served as a counselor in agency and private practice for fifteen years. He holds an undergraduate degree from WSU and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Whitworth College. He is also a clinical member of the American Mental Health Counselor’s Association and a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

Expertise: Children and youth at risk, particularly adolescent young men; assessment of at risk families and children.
